Wisdom teeth don’t always have to be removed. If they have grown in completely, are positioned correctly, and are properly cleaned, then wisdom teeth do not need to be removed.
Most of the time, however, wisdom teeth don’t have enough room and that can cause problems. As you get older, the surgery to remove wisdom teeth becomes more difficult. That is why it is recommended to remove wisdom teeth when you are young — before problems start. The entire process is easier and the healing is quicker — ahhhh youth…
So to avoid some painful problems later, give us a call now.
The day of surgery is quick and easy. If you are going to sleep (IV anesthesia), chances are your surgery will be in the morning because you can’t eat or drink anything after midnight the night before surgery. You come in wearing something really comfortable, (pajamas anyone?). We will ask you a few questions and get you ready for the procedure. OUR DREAM TEAM will start anesthesia medicine and you go off to sleep. You will be carefully monitored the entire time while your teeth are removed. You may be a bit groggy as you wake up and you might say funny things that make no sense. Your escort will be given detailed home-care instructions to make your recovery as smooth as possible. You get to spend the next day or two on the couch eating soft foods. Yes, ICE CREAM IS A SOFT FOOD!
Our office will call you later in the day to see how you are doing and answer any questions you may have. But if you aren’t at 100 percent in a few days, we want to know so we can help.
Wisdom tooth removal has a range of costs depending on the number, difficulty level of the teeth, and the type of anesthesia used. Once we meet you and take take a peek at your teeth, we can give you an estimate of fees and review your insurance coverage. We will even contact your insurance (usually dental insurance but sometimes medical insurances covers wisdom teeth too) and let you know what they will pay towards the surgery and estimate what your remaining balance will be. We have payment options and we make sure paying for your surgery isn’t painful either.
That’s an easy one! CALL US! We are happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have…trust us, we’ve heard them all (and we are kinda really great at this).
